Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has claimed that her party will not use illegal power or unfair ways to hold on to power.
The Premier, also President of ruling Awami League, made the statement while addressing the Businessmen Conference 2018 in the capital’s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Wednesday. The programme titled “Bangladesh towards peace and prosperity” was organised by Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
“I don’t have any desire to go to power by using unfair means. If we can get elected by people’s vote, then Alhamdullillah. But if we can’t retain power, there is no problem. Let peace prevail in the country,” said Sheikh Hasina.
The PM said her party wanted to see a peaceful election in the country as many political parties would contest the December 30 parliamentary polls.
The AL president said a peaceful situation was prevailing in the country. “Let the election be held maintaining this peaceful atmosphere. The party which will win the people’s mandate will be in power.”
PM Sheikh Hasina mentioned if the peaceful situation prevails in the country the country will advance further.
She sought support from the businesses community for the ‘Boat’ to maintain the pace of development and finish the incomplete development projects to make Bangladesh a developed country.
“We’ve taken so many projects including mega projects and we need more time to complete them,” the premier added.
Mentioning the private sector as the driving force of the economy, she said the private sector will be the key player while the government will act as the facilitator.
PM Sheikh Hasina said the drive against militancy, terrorism and drugs will continue while the government will show zero tolerance against corruption.
